Hi dear, I’m 32 this year and it’s my first pregnancy. I did the detailed scan at 12 weeks. Did some blood test as well. Cost me total $285 at KKH. Within 3 working days a nurse will call you and let you know if you’re high risk for a Down Syndrome baby or not. As for me, I was slightly on the higher risk and they advised me to go for further tests. I told them I’ll decide on my next appt. My last appt was on 4th May (I was 16 weeks) and again they asked if I wanted to do further tests, I told them no I don’t want to cause regardless of whether it’s a Down syndrome baby or not, I’m still going to keep it. Bottom line is if you have the means, and if you just want to have a peace of mind, I would say just go for it. They will show you a mini flip chart of the different abnormalities and you can decide with your partner which one to go for. For some mummies, they don’t do it at all. Personally, I am ok with the detailed scan for down syndrome and I don’t need to go for further tests, I leave it all to my Creator on the health of my baby.
