Hi Mommies, How much do you give your lo each tummy time? And how many times in 1 day? My lo currently 5mo 7days, but still can’t really sits up against the back of the chair and sometimes can’t hold her head up with some support too. When tummy time also not really can hold her head up. Should I worry? The doc said she need more tummy time, and she still not ready yet for solid. My lo had seizures history.
Every baby is diff. Give more tummy time.
It's really normal to not be able to sit at this age, most babies are not ready for solid until 6 months. Plus each child has their own pace. I just gave tummy time any time I can remember to do it, it doesn't hurt to do it as often as you can. As long as your baby doesn't cry or get fussy you can do it for as long as 10, 15 minutes. Don't worry it will come eventually :)Read more
For a start, you can give 1-5 minutes of tummy time every time, say after you change her diapers. That’s like 6-7 a day. It need not be on a mat. You can put her on your chest while seated on a sofa and talk to her to encourage her to lift her head. You can check out Youtube videos on how to do tummy time. You can slowly extend the time bit by bit till she is stronger. Many resources online like Pathways Org and so on.Read more
start of with 5 mins each session. 3 session a day. Slowly increase to 10 mins each session. Then slowly increase number of session. If possible, put your lo on a playmat instead of the bed. A harder surface gives a better grip to learn how to turn and sit up as well. All the best!Read more
- Hello my baby can tummy time for more than 1hr each time. Is it ok?? She doesnt really complain and when we turn her over, she flipped back within 5 min. Is it ok for baby to tummy time for long time?Shihui Karen
- My baby will be 3 months next week. How much tummy time should baby be doing? Daily or alternate days? I have not let baby do tummy time that much. When I let her do tummy time, my MIL said I should not force baby to lie on tummy too much as baby will roll to her tummy naturally when time comes. Will less tummy time delay baby motor skills?
I started my lo very young before 1month, maybe abt 1week. i started putting her on my chest first. once shes stronger, i put her on the bed for tummy time. i start for few seconds first. she loves to be on her tummy during her playtime. now shes gg 2months soon, she can support her neck quite well. even the nurses was surprised hahaha her current tummy time duration from 4-10mins each time and will do her own rollover. i recommend daily as it helps with strengthening neck muscles and so on. no. jard and fast rule. as long you know when your baby is tired and put baby on the back.Diana Saad
