My 1 year old LO got taken by my relative without permission

Hi, Would like to get everyone's thoughts on this. Yesterday, my wife and I were at work , and my 1 year old daughter was at home with my in-law. In the late afternoon, my older sister came to my home with my mum and took away my LO, and brought her back to her home. She informed my in-law but didn't inform us parents at all (not even a text). We were pretty mad that she came to take her niece without our consent. Her claim was that she already informed my in-law, which should be alright. But, I thought the right thing to do is to be asking/informing the parents first before taking the LO. What's your thought?

This is not okay regardless whether their intentions are good or not. In this case, I would ask the husband to firmly educate the in-laws that the child is under their care and they have the responsibility to not let anyone else take LO away regardless family or not. Should anything happen to LO at your sister’s house, will they be able to account for it? I feel they should at least give the parents a call to ask for permission even thou they are family. As a mother, I want to know where my LO goes and not when I reach home to find out xxx took her. I might also have plans to go somewhere with LO after work then realize LO not there and have to reroute to go pick LO up etc. Regardless, explain to both sides that you appreciate them having the thought to babysit but you would appreciate if they could at least ask first so you can have a peace of mind as well.

Wow. Totally not okay, totally not fine. This is so wrong. Doesnt matter in law or family, the parents should be the FIRST point of contact for ANYTHING. You cannot just anyhow come and take someone’s baby, without even ASKING the parents. Yes ask, not inform. Omg pls pls have a talk with them. Cause both of you are working, things will keep happening again and again and youre not there to stop them. If anything happen to your baby?
