Bloody Mess

We all know baby's nails grow really fast and I file my LO nails every morning, but often than not, it feels sharp later in the day. Lately he's got a habit of pulling his left ear a lot especially when he's sleepy or hot. He'll often get scratches either behind his ears or on his face sometimes, but he has outgrown mittens. Last night he scratched so hard on his ear, there was quite a fair bit of bleeding, and poor bubz crIed murder. Can't see that much from the photo as I've wiped it off and stopped the bleeding ofcoz before I thought of taking a pic. What I end up doing was to put socks (lol) on his hands to avoid further damage. Anyone knows why he pulls his ears? My friend suggested teething?

How old is your LO? Maybe he is sleepy or could it be ear infection? Try clipping his nails instead? I usually do so while bottle feeding my LO to distract her. 😂

Thanks. He's 5 months old and nails are already very short. I'll get him checked by pd in May when he's due for his immunization.

Could be sleepy or teething or ear infection. Would you consider using the nail clipper instead? I find it a lot more effective in preventing scratches:)

My LO’s super active too. I used the cot mobile to distract her when she was younger, and now that she flips all the time too, I give her a medium to large sized soft toy to block her from interrupting my cutting. When I was more scared last time, sometimes I would ask my husband to help me hold her down and distract her too. If you gently pull back her flesh away from the nail, then slide the nail clipper in between, it’s actually quite safe:)

Thank you. I will do that on my next appointment with PD in May. I'm avoiding taking him to the clinic unless absolutely necessary during this time.
