My boy has eczema on his cheeks and he likes to scratch his cheeks especially when he is sleepy or when he wakes up. There were 2 times that he scratched his face badly, bleeding and deep wound. He is 3 month and 1 week old and I still put on mittens for him when he is going to sleep. However, am afraid that this will hinder his grabbing skills. Any suggestions?

Make sure his nails are short, well trimmed and filed around the edges so that he won't scratch himself even if he touches his face. Since he has eczema, do try to relieve the itch by moisturising his face more and eliminating the cause of the eczema. Use an emollient as it is more moisturising.

Mittens will only affect her motor skill when he's awake. Putting on mittens during sleep time only to prevent him from scratching his face is what I did to my daughter had eczema. One more method here to try is to swaddle him when going to sleep.

Agree with Jamie and try putting some breastmilk on affected areas.

thanks
