I've heard that you should avoid green tea when you're pregnant as it cuts down your folic acid. Is it true?

Green tea decreases the body's intake of folic acid and iron absorption which may lead to a higher risk of child having spina bifida. It is best to avoid when planning to conceive and during first trimester. A little every few days should be fine though.

I agree with Samanth drinking large amounts may prevent absorbing folic acid but you can always have a cup or two daily try. Its beneficial for health and protects against heart diseases

It is true that drinking large amounts of green tea may prevent you from absorbing folic acid. But a cup or two occasionally is fine. Everything in moderation.
