heartbeat is gone

Ive been in a group page of pregnants and i got curious and bit nervous when i read someone's post about the heartbeat of her baby was gone and she is 4 months pregnant. Can somebody help me what are the causes of this and how to avoid this. Your response is greatly appreciated.
