Is it a must to provide fish or seafood to Indonesian helper?

I haven't heard of this before but maybe it depends on her dietary restrictions? Indonesian maids are usually Muslims and some do adhere strictly to what can and cannot be eaten. They probably only eat halal meat which might not be part of your family's shopping list so seafood is the safest bet. Most of my friends' helpers eat whatever they are instructed to cook and what the families eat. If there is something they can not eat, they'll just skip it and eat other dishes like veggies and tofu. Haven't heard of anyone specifically being told to provide seafood for their Indonesian helper.

Well, this is definitely not a must. What you eat, they will just follow. Only thing is you can't ask them to eat pork. The rest is up to you. If budget permits, why not? They are helping us so once a while give them what they want is fine.

Never heard of this before - but we let our helper buy whatever she wants and cook whatever she wants. We don't cook pork at home to respect her religion.
