Teeth may cause the baby's body temperature to rise slightly, but it should be no higher than 38.3 degrees. This change in temperature usually only takes place the day before and on the day the tooth emerge. If you baby is having high fever, it is unlikely that it is caused by teething and should be brought to a doctor. One of my friends thought her baby's fever was a sign of teething but got worried when she didn't notice other signs of teething (such as drooling and increased chewing). Thankfully she brought her baby to the doctor and found out that her baby had a cold.
