I'm looking for mosquito patches and bug spray for my 4 month old that safe and effective. Does anyone have any organic options they've tried?

Hi Jamie, I was curious over what you suggested and wanted to make a bug spray myself. It seems like essential oils are not really that safe. It has to be diluted to the right proportion and for certain oils we should refrain from using them topically for children, lemongrass is one of them. I don't know but it sounds like caution should be taken when preparing your own essential oil concoction. http://www.foodrenegade.com/undiluted-essential-oils-for-babies-busted-essential-oil-myth-3/

You could make your own homemade bug spray if you want to have full control over the ingredients that go into the spray. Otherwise, alternatives include lavender, cinnamon and thyme oil. http://www.healthline.com/health/kinds-of-natural-mosquito-repellant http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/alternative-mosquito-repellents

Hi mummy, you might want to try California baby bug repellent. It's made of plant and vegetable based ingredient. As this is a non-deet item, it is effective for a shorter time therefore reapplication is needed. If you wish to purchase, you can find it easily from Amazon.

Does it really have to be organic since it is applied and not ingested? The one I'm using from California Baby is natural but not organic. It's pretty decent and I think it's good enough. I spray it on baby and use it on myself as well. Very effective.
