"It is important that asthma is well controlled in pregnant women because severe asthma attacks can be dangerous to the pregnancy. Wherever possible, asthma medications should be taken by inhaler, as this minimises the amount of medicine that enters the bloodstream and crosses the placenta. Salbutamol inhaler can be taken as usual during pregnancy." Here's a link for more information! http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/allergy-and-asthma/a8236/ventolin-salbutamol/

Hey Roshni, it does pass in small quantities to your breastmilk, but you can continue nursing as normal - it shouldn't affect your baby. Here's what it says on netdoctor.com: "Salbutamol may pass into breast milk in small amounts. The manufacturer states

Hello, yes you can. :) According to www.pregnancystudies.org › asthma-study, "There have not been any studies of women taking albuterol (ventolin) while breastfeeding. However, using an albuterol inhaler is not thought to cause high enough levels in the mother's bloodstream to pass into breast milk in large amounts. Inhaled bronchodilators are generally considered acceptable for use during breastfeeding."

Personally i feel it's ok cos it helps you to open up yr airways and nothing goes into yr bloodstream or maybe very minimal amount. Alternatively, do check with the gp to see if it is ok which i think there shd not b a problem at all.

Yes you can. My best friend gets bad asthma attacks and she has used it on several occasions post pregnancy when she was still nursing. I don't think she pumped and dumped. Reckon her doctor gave her the go ahead.
