I need opinions and suggestions.. Currently 29 weeks. Went for checkup earlier tdy. Took glucose test & nurse called back in the evening saying my results are out & my sugar lvls are quite high & they want me to go back on Thurs for full day monitoring from 8-530pm to make sure everyth is ok. This is my 2nd pregnancy. W my 1st, i didnt take any glucose test and had a natural birth w/o epi. But this time round i have to do it becos they said compulsory. Idk whether to go on Thurs or just tell them idw to be monitored & continue with my pregnancy till i give birth. (I was thinking who wont get high blood sugar after drinking the glucose water.) Will it cause any harm to me and my baby? Do i need pay more attention to it? Any mothers who have GD during pregnancy do u do anyth? Idk im confused :/
I would go with caution and do as the doctor advised. If you have GD, there are risks on you and the baby. For the baby, the risks are pre-term birth, injuries during birth because they've grown larger than normal, temporary breathing problems, jaundice, and low levels of minerals and blood sugar. For you, the risks are miscarriage, high blood pressure, preeclampsia, pre-term birth, and higher chances of needing a C-section.
Read morei took glucose test and the results are normal. it depends on your result mommy, if the nurse said it is quite high then you might as well let them monitor you because it is for you and the baby's wellness. having GD is alarming and could put you and the baby at risk if it remained untreated. i believe that you could get away with it just follow your ob's instructions. God Bless you. ❤️
Read morejust listen to the gynae as they would know better than u do. my friends had gd for 2nd pregnancy but not during the 1st. the glucose test results is high not because took the glucose. it's ur body inability to breakdown the glucose that's y it's high. if your body is able to break it down, then it would show a high reading.
Read moreMy pregnancy 12 years ago also does not require me to take the glucose test. But my second pregnancy 12years later require me to do. I think is because of medical improve. Gynae want us to test things better be save than sorry. GD is no joke. You need doctor to further advise u. Either control your diet or what if need.
Read moremy dr did a finger prick test 2hrs post meal and said the glucose was within range. so he said it was optional for me to go for the glucose test. I guess it all depends on the risk factors that you have to determine whether or not there is a need to go for the glucose test. if the dr advise to, then it's better to do it.
Read morei there i had gdm for three of my pregnancies. i was worried so yah i went for the whole day monitoring. basically they will teach u on what food to take and not to take. u will be eating and then asked to walk then checked sugar again. i was on metformin and insulin as my sugar is not good. no harm going though.
Read moreI was also diagnosed of having high sugar level and I have to retake my RBS .I have to cut off my diet, no more process foods or any sweets... My OB told me that having a high sugar is too dangerous for the baby cause it may cause blindness .. Fortunately, the result is normal 🙏
would be best to listen to your gynae advise. the drink is to test your body's ability to break down sugar and it should. GD doesn't really harm mummies as its usually caused by hormones and most will go away after birth. but if too high it will affect your bb. so best to listen to ur gynae.
Hi. I am having GD and did not go for any classes/dietician plan whatsoever. 35 weeks now and baby is growing just fine. Trust your gut. I refuse to pay extra costs to anything else since I am paying so much already for my gynae. My two cents.
