In India we are asked to get the test done compulsory. Doctors just want to make sure if every thing is OK..... And if it's ur first pregnancy then u surely should do it. There could be many more reasons like, putting on too much weight, or loosing weight etc.....

It’s not compulsory, but if you have any concerns or medical history, you should discuss them with your gynae:)
