lGestational Diabetes at 3rd Trimester

I have been recording my blood glucose 3x a day every alternate days. There are several post meal readings that exceeded 7.0mmol/l. Last visit to Gynae yesterday and he insisted that I see a diabetic specialist at Mount A!- I have previously stayed in hospital in early April for a day to do the 7 point glucose test and result is fine as long as I control my diet. Currently at Week 30. Anyone currently seeing a diabetic specialist? What should I expect on my first visit? I am quite concern with the cost too.

Typically the doctor will look at your pre-recorded blood glucose readings, assess if baby is overly heavy and whether are there any risk or additional measures like insulin jabs needed. If it's just slightly over 7 on some days, should be fine. Maybe doctor will simply ask u to watch your diet.

Hi, do they refer you to St Julien Clinic? Doon't worry if you are with st julien. Doctor Goh is a great help and Kelly, the person in charge who keep track of your sugar is super nice and gentle.

As for costs wise, cant comment much. Was under kkh subsidy previously so one diabetics aka high risk preg appointment is the same price as other gynae appointments, like $40.
