gestational diabetics

Hi mommies I have delivered 4 weeks ago. Was diagnosed with Gestational diabetes at week 28. Ever since gynae referer me to endocrine specialist and I saw him once and bought the blood test machine to monitor my sugar level. Has been on diet control and no need to be on any medication. I stop seeing the endocrine specialist since my GDM is under control. Now, should I go back to do the blood sugar test. I hate drinking that super sweet drink. if use the blood strip test to test my sugar level is that ok ?
