Yes, jowar can be given after 8 months to babies as it has rich nutritional values -- carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, proteins and antioxidants. Also it will keep your baby 'full' for a longer period of time. Remember, your baby will not have molars until sometime around the 12-18 month age range so give him soft food that can easily mashed in his gums. You can try with jowar payasam, jowar cerelac, jowar seera. Here is the recipe for jowar and banana seera: For this you will need -- 1/4 cup mashed banana 1/4 cup jowar (white millet) flour 1 tsp ghee 1 tsp chopped jaggery Water Procedure: 1. Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add the jowar flour and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes. 2. Add the jaggery and ¾ cup of water, mix well using a whisk and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring continuously. 3. Switch off the flame, add the banana and mix well. 4. Serve lukewarm. My LO loves it!
