Tips for first pregnancy women
I just found out im pregnant and about 3weeks long, what should my first step be? Which hosp should i go? #firstbaby #advicepls #firstmom #firsttimemom #firstpreganancy
congrats! i found out when i was 2-3 weeks too and frankly, i’d recommend you wait till about 6 weeks before going to the gynae. i went at 3 weeks too and wasn’t able to see anything, gynae did a blood test to confirm pregnancy for me and scheduled for me to see him again when i was 6 weeks. so i’d say maybe save money on one visit since it’s still early and each visit is pretty costly :) of course, you must be feeling so excited! do start taking your folic acid in the meantime and be careful. i’d also suggest going to a gynae near you so that it’s much more convenient. mine’s thomson women clinic that is just 5 mins from my place. best decision ever since we don’t have to drive to any of the hospitals each visit.
Read morevisit a gynae when you are at least 6weeks pregnant, before that, most likely cannot hear the baby's heartbeat during ultrasound. you can buy Folic Acid from any pharmacy, i got it at $7 from Guardian and it lasts a few months even though i was kiasu and took 2pills daily (actually 1 per day is enough). avoid raw foods including runny eggs, sashimi and salads. Avoid alcohol and smoking at all costs and reduce caffeine intake. these are the basic stuff. meanwhile, u have a few weeks to research on which gynae to visit, there are so many good ones, can ask your friends and family for recommendation. congrats!

After that we started looking for a gynae in TMC and booked our first appt when I was 6w3d, my baby girl had heartbeat detected alr at that point of time. Do takecare and stay hydrated and eat healthy while waiting for your first appt! Don't forget your folic acid.

Meantime get folic acid from guardian or prenatal supplements whilst waiting for your 1st appt.. and ensure that all your food are fully cooked.
Read moreeasier if you go to polyclinic, check up can get referred to hospital directly . if go hospital scan also cannot see anything cause under 6weeks . take good care of the pregnancy, don't feel stressed ! take good rest , eat healthy!:) congrats on your first pregnancy
Go to polyclinic to get referral letter to kkh/nuh. First trimester go for subsidized route more worth it. Meanwhile, you can talk to your friends for gynae (male or female) recommendations. And also decide if you want to see private kkh/nuh or tmc.
Take folic acid and if you can afford it, go to a private hospital. As a first time mother, you will appreciate the kind of care you receive from private hospitals. It will definitely help with all the anxiety in time to come.
Hi mummy! I went to thomson straight as its my first child and my gynae recommended by my sister, Dr Tan KL. For thomson yes you need to fork out alil more money then government hospital. ☺️
Take folic acid for now till wk 11. Kkh is not all bad. Go to poly at wk5, you’ll get a referral for subsidised route at kkh/nuh. Third trimester onwards can consider going private.
I went straight to SGH, private route. They have amazing doctors that KKH will send their complicated cases to. A bit ex tho, my first appt cost about 200$
