How can I encourage my 2-year old to self-feed herself? She's used to me feeding her food all the time.

This is a method I've tried whenever I babysit and it kindda works. Get baby his or her own spoon and let them try. It will be a messy affair but there's no other way around it. You can help her along at first by holding the spoon to baby's hand, dip the spoon in the food and guiding it to her mouth. This allows baby to associate the spoon with eating. Do this a few times throughout the meal until they start to get the hang of it themselves. Be encouraging all the way

i used to keep a designated bowl and spoon for my baby and keep it on the table next to my plate. as we would eat the same food, i would put some in hers and then we both would start eating together. if she refuses initially or doesnt know how to go about it, show her slowly by doing the action yourself, or guide her.
