Hi, would like to check with u all about our baby feeding pattern. He is 4 weeks old n for the past 1 weeks he has been wanting to latch for many hours during certain part of the days either in the afternoon or evening time. We learned from the Internet that this pattern is called cluster feeding. Are our understanding correct? If it is correct, normally how long will this cluster feeding last? We are worry since he has been behaving this way for the past one week.

sometimes babies do cluster feeding when they feel the need to have more milk, but the milk is not there. when the baby keeps suckling on your nipples, it does produce more milk from the glands. once baby realizes this, they will keep doing it more. this is nothing to worry about and will go away on its own, once the milk flow is again regulated and your baby is comfortable.

Some parents have reported that cluster feedings can last for two months. Cluster feeding is natural and it is the baby's way of making more breast milk. http://www.bellybelly.com.au/breastfeeding/cluster-feeding-tips/
