Has anyone tried elimination communication? Can you share your experience?

I have never heard of elimination communication. I googled a bit about it and it's quite interesting. Reminds me of those techniques like the Dunstan baby language, you know - since it's about knowing how to read and recognise the signs from your baby, and with EC it's about knowing the signals of when your baby is ready to pee or poop. I wonder if it's too late to try this with a toddler, since I read that it's most effective when done during infancy.
