Hi everyone, my iron level is still low dispite me eating 2 iron pills per day for about 5months. Iron level don't seems to increase. Any other ways to help to increase iron level?
How much of an increase do you want to see? Do you have an underlying blood condition like anemia or thalassemia? What does your gynae recommend? Eating more iron doesnt mean your body can absorb the full amount.Read more
I have thalassemia, a blood condition. My red blood cell count was only 10.2. But I cannot take a lot of iron because my body cannot absorb. I have been on iron since week 13 till before I gave birth and my red blood count only increased by 1.
Eat beef and it's helps
Eat more red meat
eat chicken or pork liver
Eat more red meat and liver to increase iron level.
Consume brewed red date water and pork/chicken liver to boost up iron level.
Can eat liver during pregnancy?
Eat more dark leafy veggies such as spinach
Yap will do that.
Redbean. I always like to drink redbean water not soup without sugar before pregnant Even my gynae shock abt my high level of iron
Vitamin C helps with iron absorption. You could try eating some fruits I.e. oranges with foods high in iron.
Most welcome! :) All the best!
Liver, red meat, spinach

- Hi mommies, just want to enquire, what are the alternatives for iron supplement. I am currently 26wks+ and taking Obimin as a daily prenatal vitamin along with fish oil. My blood test result showed that my Hb is low (9.5) and Dr has prescribed iron supplement. I am not in favor of consuming alot of medications. Besides beetroot, spinach and redmeat, are there any other food that I can consume to boost my iron level? TIA :)
Why are you against taking iron supplement? It is exactly the same as eating those food with high iron content, except you don't need to also consume the bad stuff that might come with it for instance liver is also high in cholesterol and saturated fat. And even if you eat a lot of liver and spinach everyday it won't be as much as an iron supplement which is formulated to meet the daily requirement.fiz
