I think it is best not to take tonics too much when you are pregnant and also when you breastfeed! Chinese physician chided my sister in law for eating too much tonics when she was breastfeeding and that's why my niece has eczema. I think a natural balanced diet during pregnancy will be sufficient. As for birds nest I have taken it but only in third trimester. There are some people who claims that taking birds nest will cause eczema or phlegm in baby. I am not sure if this is true but my gal did have a lot of phlegm since birth:( maybe Coz I keep feeling thirsty during pregnancy and took a lot of cold drinks including chilled birds nest . If you want to take birds nest pls eat it warm especially the home cooked warm type will be better
My TCM physician recommended home made chicken essence instead of the store bought one which is better nutritional value. Chicken essence and bird nest eat on alternate week from second trimester onwards. 3rd trimester can just have bird nest, no need the chicken essence - otherwise too hearty. Other foods in moderation, sleep a lot :) that was what I did, never sick, baby good weight and fair :)

I did not take any tonic apart from bird nest in my 2nd trim. I believe eating healthily is more useful than tonic
chicken essence can drink 4-5 times per week. if u r sick have to stop.
Chicken Essence ok But the other tonics better don’t take
