Are children who are empathetic always "good" and try to comfort another upset child? Or could there be a child who are very high EQ (can understand others) but are naturally mean and choose to make the other kids feel bad??

Wow! Interesting point. I have never looked at it this way. My own opinion (just for discussion sake) would be that it is possible I guess, for a child to make use of his/her ability to empathize to manipulate others. That being said, I think the ability to understand how others are feeling would more likely make the child more sympathetic to others' "sufferings" and quite unlikely that the child would use it against others. Such an interesting take on empathy. Perhaps another question would be whether you think everyone is born inherently good or is there people who are born "evil".
