My child doesn't eat non veg and wants to eat only veg food. As a non veg eating family, my inlaws are concerned and blaming me for the same. How do I tackle this?

I wish maturity could come with age. Don't know why in-laws have to blame the mother for everything. And in this case when this is a non-issue. It is true that kids pick up most of their eating habits frothier mother because they eat what mother feed them or tend to develop taste for what mother likes, which I think is quite normal. 24/7 the mother is taking care of the kid, then why does anyone raise an eyebrow when the kid imitates mother. I am a pure vegetarian but my daughter eats non-veg too. And the days she eats non-veg when cooked at home, no one says that even when the mother doesn't eat the baby still eats meat. And one day, if she doesn't eat non-veg, my mother-in-law tells my husband that I must have told her not to. I think it is useless to prove that you have no role in baby developing a taste for something beyond an age. I guess, put your point across to your husband and tell him to deal with his parents. What I personally do with my daughter is that non-veg is made, I let her father feed that day. We dine together, and I make her sit with her father, and when she sees her father eating meat, she doesn't create any fuss about not eating that, which she do the times she sits with me seeing only veg food in my plate. So, make her sit with your husband and it will slowly and steadily ease the situation.

Kid's try to imitate what their loved ones do, be it talking, behaving or eating habits. First of all you need to create a value around an item. 1. Start preparing non-veg food with some enthusiasm and not detest. This will be a step forward. 2. Check for common grounds like egg if you don't eat other non-vegetarian food. Thing is you need to enjoy as a group. 3. If you enjoy it together then kids are bound to eat it. If you pick veg for yourself when others eat non-veg then your kid will treat your food as special and try to eat that only. 4. Introduce them non-veg food gradually -- cakes with egg first, then egg-products with bread and then chicken soup. Later chicken or higher.
