I guess you are referring to co-sleeping/bed sharing with your baby? From what I’ve read, there is no “best” way of sleeping with a baby. Most experts recommend that the best option is the one that would help everyone get the adequate rest needed. The advantage of sleeping with the baby would be that the mother could better attend to her baby’s needs promptly. It will also reduce nighttime separation anxiety and keep the baby calm (especially for younger babies). Some guidelines to note when co-sleeping (be it with baby on the same bed or just beside the bed) are: - avoid sleeping with baby if parents are smokers or have ingested alcohol or medication - only co-sleeps on bed and not couches and recliners - bedding should be tight fitting to mattress - remove any loose pillows or soft blankets near baby - there should not be any space between the bed and adjoining wall (prevent baby from getting trapped in the space) - baby should not be placed on his/her stomach You can refer to this article for more information: http://parenttown.com/sg/q/can-i-cuddle-baby-sleep-whole-night-dangerous-baby-3-months-old/4383 If you are worry about accidentally rolling over him/her like what Chin Yin mentioned, perhaps you could consider having the cot/ bassinet beside your bed and putting your baby into the cot after he/she has fallen asleep from the cuddling. :)

Avoid at all cost. Im a first time mum, my 1 month plus baby girl keep on crying when I put her to sleep at her cot. So I let her sleep between me and my husband, she instantly fall asleep. Then I woke to feed her, I see my husband back was on top of her face. He sleep so soundly without noticing it. I learn my lesson that never co sleep with her till she get older like 2years and above.

Personally, I am too much of a "violent" sleeper so cuddling baby when we're both sleeping will be a major no-no for me. Cuddling the baby while he or she is being lulled to sleep is fine but as soon as I start feeling sleepy, I'd place baby into his or her cot/bassinet (which will probably be near the bed).

I wouldn't advise you to cuddle as once we are sound asleep, we won't know if we are pressing too hard on the newborn. There is danger to even co-sleep with them. For my newborns, I let them get used to sleeping at their baby cot till they are older like 2 yrs old, then we co-sleep.

dangerous, read about sleep safety and SIDS

dangerous be careful
