From what I’ve read, homemade juice is not recommended for infants as the fruits have not been pasteurized (a process to help eliminate bacterial concentrations that may cause food poisoning). You could, however, use the liquid that is used to steam/boil fruit for fruit puree for your baby. Also, if you are feeding fruit juice to a one-year old, dilute them using one part to 10 parts of boiled, cooled water. In general, fresh fruit is still a better choice as compared to juices. I personally believe in having anything in moderation, as long as it is not harmful to the baby. I agree with Hui Qun, I believe it's fine if it's in moderation. My 7 year old daughter loves her fruits and I started giving her sips when she was about 1.5 years old. My parents have the habit of making their own orange/apple juice so I allowed it. Now that she's older, she never fails to have a cup first before she starts on her breakfast and I am proud of that habit that we somehow managed to culivate since young.
My babies were advised to drink fresh juice by their pedia as early as 6 months. We were advised to feed my baby with different fruit juices every other day to see if he has allergies to citrus or other types of fruits. I guess it's totally fine since we don't add sweeteners to the juice, it's all natural.
According to few researchers, it's totally fine to give fresh juices to 1-year-olds but again it totally depends on the juice you are giving. Refer these: http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/juiceforbaby.htm http://www.livestrong.com/article/456907-can-1-year-olds-have-orange-juice/
Oh! Yes, what can be better than homemade fresh juice for the kid. If he is one year old, you can feed her fresh juice but in moderation. Do not feed too much. And make sure the fruits are fresh. http://www.livestrong.com/article/456907-can-1-year-olds-have-orange-juice/
Of course, they can. That's very healthy for them.
