bleeding nipple and hardening baby stool from fm

My baby is 5 days old. For the first 3 days, my colostrum supply was sufficient for her. However, since yesterday, her appetite seems to grow very much. My nipples were sore and bleeding until she rejects my nipple. Should i still continue to pump? But it hurts. After drinking formula milk for 3 meals, her stools became harder and she seems to have problem pooping. Any solution?

You need to apply nipple cream or breast milk and air dry to allow faster healing. You need to pump to avoid engorgement but you can massage and apply hot compress to soften your breast. You might want to add a little bit more water to the formula if it’s giving your baby constipation.

Do apply nipple cream to take care of it. In the meantime, continue to pump else it might get engorged. Can try feeding expressed breastmilk for the moment if ur nipple is still in pain.

Please make sure her latch is correct as i had same issues. I saw a lactation consultant and it was solved instantly!
