Hello mommy. Same here. It is called De Quervain's tendinitis. Apparently, we have been improperly holding/supporting our babies and henceforth... we have inflamed tendons. For me, the initial stage, i cannot even do the "thumbs up" sign. Pure torture 8for me and i felt my wrists n thumbs were giving way. Pls chg ur way of carrying baby n try to do the following: 1) get help to carry n attend to ur baby 2) dont bend ur wrists at 90deg (overdoing it) 3) dont bend ur wrists backward nor forward 4) apply light massage upwards fr wrist toward fingers (gently) 5) soak wrists in warm water every day and massage as per 4 6) go for a proper Tcm tuina. correct tuina is light strokes, shd not be forceful nor painful. i went eu yan sang to look for tuina professional 7) apply medicated plaster at wrist ( not too long hrs if u have sensitive skin, else will turn red n itch like mine) 8) use cold compress (ice) if something hit ur wrists n u are in pain. 9) use hot/warm compress as daily maintenance 10) buy and wear a splint (wrist guard). it shd have a metal plate inside and this shd support the side where ur thumb meets ur wrist. this is to "immobilise" ur inflamed tendon so it gets rest n better. make sure u buy the correct splint. i bought one earlier without metal pc so it didnt help at all. i had to get a 2nd pc which is more costly n also effective. metal plate is concealed in the fabric so do not worry... u will not hurt ur little one whilst wearing it. 11) do NOT go and see western hand specialists and get injections. I did it when my baby was 3mo and my wrists were in sharp pain. I regretted my decision. coz at the injection site ( the point of the tendon below thumb) is now v scary looking. The pain was gone a day after the jab but a mth or so later, my skin chg colour (looks bleached) and the fats at injection spot "died" aka fat atrophy. so there is a hideous looking white dent in my wrist now.. on the side where a heavier dosage was administered. People get quite disturbed looking at my wrist and asked what happened... lastly.. my elder sis also had this problem when she first gave birth. She went for a shockwave therapy and she said it worked well for her immed at first try. I didn't attempt it bec I was stubborn and I wanted to have immed treatment (injection) which I regret doing so on hindsight. Very lastly.. use the smartphone less. Furious typing strains our thumbs n in turn affect our tendons and wrists. Take good care and hope you find relief in ur wrists soon!

Yes i had the wrist pain of my left wrist with my firstborn. Now im having the elbow pain on my right hand with my second child. I applied heat rub when my wrist hurt. Alsi i minimized carrying baby with my left hand and used my right hand instead.

Did u try acupuncture? I had the same thing a few months back. My friend recommend going for steroid injection which I refused as I'm breastfeeding (the injection works for her). Went for acupuncture and was healed after 3 session.
