Help! Fever cannot come down

Sponge 🧽 with tap water , take a pail and a cloth and sponge LO. Monitor temp every 3 hours, fever temp might not come down in 1 to 2 days, take 3 to 5 days. Most importantly, water intake and urine output. If LO can’t eat can’t drink, please bring LO to see doctor as it might be virus or infection. Hope this helps.

Sponge if the time to take med is not up yet. Rotate ibuprofen and paracetamol (check with doctor for the amount to time to space out the meds. I only do this is the fever refuses to come down from the high 38s to 39s) Spam fever patches nonstop, forehead and back of neck. Give manuka honey water/barley water.

Fever checklist: If havent give ibuprofen, can give. Take note of timing also. Sponge everywhere. Monitor LO milk intake. Is LO also having normal wet diaper changes? If no to all, go A&E. Most importantly sponge & medicine every 4hrs.

How many days your LO has fever? Is it high grade fever? If it’s low grade fever, it’s fine and still in control. Did you put wet towel (use room temperature water. Not ice cold water) or fever patch?

If my LO’s fever cannot come down with meds, I usually monitor for a bit but will bring to doctor if it stays high or baby becomes more uncomfortable.

I believe if baby is weak, no urine output, not eating, breathing issues all it's time to go to a&e. Usually after third day then I escalate. 😔
