Unless your child shows a keen interest for the instrument, it is not recommended to start violin lessons till he or she is at least 4. I'd say 4 or 5 when the child can steadily hold the violin or any instrument. But before that, it's better to train their grip like handling them brooms to sweep the floor. Dual purpose right? They help you in doing household chores plus training for the violin class. :)
