Just needed to get this off my chest

Went for a family gathering today and had a family friend 70+ years old MAN tell me that I’m looking fat now. I’m in week 36, of course my tummy is huge now. And it is literally the FIRST thing he said to me upon seeing me. This is the first time someone had said something so rudely in my face that I was caught off guard. I wished I was strong enough to tell him off or come up with something witty but all I mustered with my people-pleasing self was “oh haha he’s coming out soon.” Ugh seething now but I know I shouldn’t focus on things unimportant people say. Just needed to get this off my chest so I can move on.

It’s normal to feel affected, especially when we get more self conscious during pregnancy with all the extra weights we’ve put on. My husband’s colleague mum told me “Wa you became fatter” when I was below my prepregnancy weight - 42kg (the first time she saw me - 46kg I was way heavier then but not pregnant). 🙃 But I just brushed it off and told her “I’ve been eating too well and enjoying life now” 😌 The thing with old people is that they don’t filter their words and won’t go and think if it will hurt others. Don’t get too affected by it, you’ll soon be numb to all these unnecessary remarks. Don’t let a nobody affect your mood 😊.

Totally understand how u feel! A church mate told me I was looking BIG and said that she hope its all going to the baby not me. I wished I had the courage to say back at her but I didn’t.
