More 🙄 than thrilled. My immed thought would probably be "HUH?!"🤨 Sure, it's a nice gesture but I would prefer to be kept informed earlier out of respect. After all it will involve my own time and schedule, and I might have prior engagements. I'd also want to discuss and approve the guestlist and food, be part of the decision process. For MY kid's sake. Lastly, it'd better not be on my kid's actual birthday date. 🙅🏻♀️
Yea why not? I don't mind if let's say they told us to come over for dinner but it was a surprise celebration among immediate family members. My spouse has a small family so I don't mind even if it involves a few of his cousins perhaps. Unless of course we have prior engagements/plans but so far my parents in law have been v considerate to check with us first before making any arrangements.
