Hospitalization leave - when did you inform your boss?

Hi there, FTM here and currently week 35, EDD end July. I told my boss previously that I plan to start maternity leave around mid July. I asked Gynae abt hospitalization leave and he told me he’ll only grant this from week 37 onwards. Can anyone share how they communicate hospitalization leave to their boss? Do you tell them in advance that your gynae will start hospitalization leave in week xx? Thanks in advance!

It's great that you are preparing for your maternity leave and thinking ahead about hospitalization leave. It's important to communicate effectively with your boss regarding these matters. Since your gynaecologist will only grant hospitalization leave from week 37 onwards, you can plan to inform your boss around that time or slightly before. You can approach your boss by explaining the situation and letting them know that your gynaecologist has advised hospitalization leave starting from week 37. It's good etiquette to provide your boss with as much notice as possible to allow for any necessary adjustments in the workplace. You can also discuss any work arrangements or handover plans that need to be put in place during your absence. Open communication is key to ensure a smooth transition and to maintain a positive working relationship with your employer. Overall, clear and timely communication with your boss will help both parties plan effectively for your maternity leave and ensure a stress-free experience for everyone involved. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! https://invl.io/cll6she
