Suggestion please, is there anyone here who is a teacher by profession, What academic standards is best for incoming grade school and what do we us parent need to know about it?

Hi! I'm not a teacher, but my cousin is! She told me that incoming gradeschool students need to already know how to read and write, even if it's just basic skills. They have to be able to express themselves through speech and drawing as well. They have to be able to converse with their teachers, even if it's just asking and answering simple questions. These are just some general standards, but I'm sure it varies with each school. :) Hope this helps!
