U definitely save alot of cash by going for a referral to any govt hospitals. The only meh part is u cannot choose your gynae and will never stick to the same gynae throughout your prenatal checks. But I was lucky when I got to see the same female gynae for a couple of times in NUH and 2 female gynaes attended to my labour and was there throughout from my admission for 9 days as I had a complication. During labour you may be attended by a midwife for most. Priority, u have to work out on ur budget 1st. If can afford go for private if u want a chosen gynae. Otherwise sub is ok too. 5 times under sub and no regrets. My total bill for 2 of my pregnancies exceeded and thankfully can pay via Medisave & Baby bonus for my preterm NICU baby.

I think the referral applies for Govt hospitals only tho. And also, Govt hospital don’t stick to one gynae. Private hospital doesn’t have subsidies.

Uh, we’re talking about the same thing isn’t it? I mentioned referral applies to gov hospital only as OP mentioned regarding bills = subsidies.
