Purely breastfed but turned out to be underweight

Purely breastfed but turned out to be underweight.. anybody who has encountered this?

My baby was underweight when I was breastfeeding her. And when I consulted my doctor, he said that it is because the baby is not taking enough breastfeed. But there can be other underlying problems as well, such as, low or high muscle tone, breathing problems, anaemia, etc. I suggest, you visit the baby's PD and see what he says.

Thanks. May I know what your pedia advised you to do? Did she recommend you to mix formula feed your baby, asked him to take additional supplements? In my case, the pedia asked my baby to take iron to increase his appetite for solid foods and prevent anemia, but his appetite didn't improve. She then gave him Heraclene to mix with his food or drink daily for a month. It's been more than 2 weeks and still ni improvement in his solid intake. Will have to wait for his next check up.
