Pro-PALO or No PALO?

Honestly, ang hirap maghanap ng tamang pang disiplina sa anak namin kasi kahit tinatampal namin kamay nya when she do something na hindi maganda like namamalo or nananabunot it's like di nya narerecognize na mali yun, she just cries ganun. But as a person who was physically abused and disguised as 'discipline' I think I'd skip palo and try to think of other ways to effectively discipline my child without (if possible) hurting her. Pls suggest naman kayo ng pwedeng gawin as a gentle disciplinary but effective act for 1 yr and 7 months old.
