My toddler's eyes don't completely close when she sleeps. I can see little white of her eye still. Is this normal?

As explained here (http://www.babycenter.com/404_is-it-normal-for-my-baby-to-sleep-with-her-eyes-open_3652525.bc): Sleeping with the eyes open happens during REM, which is a more active sleep cycle". "Babies spend much more time in REM sleep than adults, about 50 percent of their total sleep time." If your baby's "zombie sleep" bothers you, gently stroke his eyelids closed. Consult your baby's doctor if your child sleeps with his eyes open for many hours at a time or if his eyes seem dry or irritated. In very rare cases, malformation of the eyelids can prevent them from closing normally. But otherwise, don't fear the zombie kid.

Sleeping with eyes slightly open is a harmless condition called nocturnal lagophthalmos and is quite common in infants. You can simply stroke your baby’s eyelids close if it bothers you. You can also consult your doctor if it happened for long duration or if her eyes seem dry or irritated. By the way, the condition may be hereditary, hence, there is a possibility that you or your husband may be sleeping with your eyes opened too!
