My nearly 1 year old has had a runny nose and cough for a few days, and today developed a rash on his feet, legs, stomach, back, hands, face. He has no fever though. Could this be HFMD?

Do the rashes look like these? HFMD presents the following symptoms: Fever. Sore throat. Ulcers in the throat, mouth and tongue. Headache. Rash with vesicles (small blisters 3–7 mm) on hands, feet and diaper area. The vesicles are typically on the palm side of the hands, the sole side of the feet and are very characteristic in appearance. The rash may also be present on the buttocks, arms and legs. Poor appetite. Lethargy However, some babies may not exhibit all the symptoms. Since you suspect that your child has HFMD, do take him to the PD as soon as possible to get him treated. http://sg.theasianparent.com/protecting-your-child-from-hand-foot-mouth-disease/

HFMD does not necessary comes with a fever first. You should bring your child to PD immediately to examine on the rashes to see if it is HFMD, as you need to quarantine your child at home instead of letting him to attend any class/school as HFMD is very contagious. This is a basic public responsibility.
