My friend told me that the most fertile days to have a baby are right after your period. Is that true?

Let say, your mense cycle is 28days, 12 to 16 days after the first day of your period is the fertile period. The peak should be around 14 days after your 1st day of mense. You will notice there is clear and stretchy discharge from your vagina and this indicates you are fertile and ready.

It really depends on your cycle and no 2 women's cycle are the same. Even your current cycle and the next will have differences! The key is to know when you are ovulating by observing your cervical mucus symptoms. The best days are when you see plenty of clear, slippery mucus.

On top of Jamie's and Diana's inputs, it's quite interesting to note that a sperm can live up to 5 days and the egg can live for about 12 to 24 hours after leaving the ovary. So you can get pregnant 5 days prior to your ovulation period, or 2 days after ;)

It is possible to get pregnant right after your period, though it is unlikely. 12 to 14 days before your next period starts is the golden time frame and best time for baby making. http://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/981.aspx?CategoryID=54
