When to remove baby mittens

Hello mummies. When u all remove baby mittens? They say mittens is not encourage from 6wks onwards. My baby is 2mth old. Recently remove his mittens but he scratch his face (abit of blood) even though we have already trimmed his nail? Baby like to rub his eyes with his fingers too, scare he might scratch until his own eyes :(

I still let my son wear mittens at night in case he scratches and startles himself from his sleep. But day time we will remove and let him suckle on his own hands. We will file his nails at least once every 2 days so that his scratches won't be too deep. Applying BM on his wounds do help to heal faster too.
