Increase colostrum/breastmilk

Hello mummies, As you all know, I’m new here and I just became a mummy to my beautiful 2-day old daughter. I would like to get some advises on how to increase my colostrum/breastmilk. My daughter has been latching on my nipple without anything coming out and I would prefer breastfeeding her instead of formula milk. Anyway, I would prefer the most natural way on increasing my colostrum, as I do not like to depend on expensive supplements or equipments. Thank you mummies! ❤️

Super Mum

Dear mama, Firstly, congratulations and you’ve done so well already! Kudos to persevering in your journey to breastfeeding baby! Second, could I ask how you know that there’s nothing coming out and also if baby has been wetting her diaper and pooing? Third, there’s an article which I found most useful and I hope you’ll have a read: https://kellymom.com/ages/newborn/when-will-my-milk-come-in/ Fourth, please surround yourself with people who support you on this journey and reach out for the help of a lactation counsellor or IBCLC if you need one. Fifth, baby’s stomach now is the size of a pea and will grow to the size of a walnut on day 3: https://www.healthline.com/health/baby/your-newborns-stomach-size-is-smaller-than-you-think#day-1 So it’s okay if you’re producing in small amounts and baby is latching more often. After all, she can only take a little bit at a time. Breastfeeding is a dance between you and your LO. Your baby is the key to your breastmilk. She’s telling your body how much breastmilk you need and the consistency she needs (amount of fat, antibodies, etc). Similarly, you’re learning more about your baby and her feeding patterns as she grows, all the while through your bonding with her through this magical but admittedly, initially challenging journey. Be gentle and patient with yourself. Keep your nutrition up. And drink lots and lots of water. I hope this helps mama! You’re doing so great already! Sending love and blessings your way.
