Starting baby on solids

Hello mummies.. how to start baby on solids? Currently baby is 5 month old. Would like to slowly start him on solids at 5.5 months as he’s already showing interest in food.. 1. What kind of solids to start with? 2. How much to give? 3. Is it a substitute for milk or still add on milk after feeding solid.. Kindly advice.. thank u!

You can start by giving a couple of spoonfuls cereal first. Intro a new food at least 3 days apart to check for any reaction e.g. cereal for lunch for 3 days before you intro another food. Please note that at this age, milk is still the primary source of nourishment. These are the foods I gave my girl then: Store bought cereal, steamed-puréed apple, pear, spinach, pumpkin, potato, sweet potato...

can add milk to puree and cereal. not supposed to replace milk feed

try rice cereal, avocado, bananas, apple/pear puree
