Best to go ard 6-8 wks. I went at 8 wks and cld hear and see baby's heartbeat clearly. Hospitals really depend on how much u're willing to spend on consultations and hospital stay. If cost is not an issue, I'd suggest go to private hospital. But if u're worried of having any future complications (e.g if u alr hve miscarriages prior, existing high blood/diabetes etc), NUH and KKH are better as they have specialists there. Just a tip, private hosp gynaes are more flexible in giving HLs esp in ur last tri when u're really v tired. I have friends who went under NUH and KKH private gynaes, they cldn't get much HL prior to EDD. For comparison, I had asthma and was given 4 wks HL by Parkway but my friend who had asthma too only managed to get 1 wk frm KKH pte, she was even asked to use up all her ordinary medical leave first.
If u going to subsidized clinic, best for u to get a referral letter from polyclinic. From poly, they will ask which hospital would u like to visit. For me, i went to poly clinic and request for subsidized clinic at KKH. Only at my 26 weeks, I decided to switch to private clinic in KKH because I am hoping that a specialize gynae is able to give me early HL from my work. Indeed, with my condition, (swollen legs & pretty heavy now), I got early HL. No point paying a specialist too early because it just a normal check up. Only after 20 weeks or so, u may or may not have any special conditions, so u can decide to switch from there on.
Go at 8 weeks onwards. That's the best time to see & hear your baby's heartbeat clearly. If you prefer to go the subsidise route, you can go to polyclinic to get a referral letter to your preferred hospital (NUH, KKH, SGH). For sub, you'll be referred to the hospital in a mth's time. Otherwise just call or walk in to the hospital to make an appt. My advice, follow your budget, don't follow others just because they say so and so because at the end you'll be the one who fork out the money. I also see so many from ptv going to sub because it's too ex. So yes, depends on you.
Yes i feel private more flexible in giving hl. I went gvt hosp a&e for some big clots and bleeding, they jabbed me, dunno why i bleed, give me 2 days mc. 🤦🏼♀️ I had fluid not ideal to my private gynae and was issued 2x 2 wks of hl. Doesnt really matter to me actually because i actually wfh...
best to go after 6 weeks, as anytime before you wont be able to see much or even hear any heartbeat. if youre not financially stable gov hosp is good, if not private like tmc is great
8 weeks onward
7-8wks
