I would suggest mummy to use maternity pad first for the first 1 or 2 weeks especially u have episiotomy done because maternity pad is meant for comfort and it is very soft mainly for mothers who had their episiotomy done. U may use them with disposable panties if u are comfortable with otherwise a comfortable cotton panties will do. Once the stitches are dried up, u can use normal sanitary pad.
