Stage 2 formula milk

My LO will turn 6mo in 3 days but his current stage 1 FM can only last him for a day, I feel that since he is starting stage 2 soon so it will be a waste to buy stage 1 FM, can I just feed him stage 2 even he is 2 days away to 6mo?
