Will my baby be hungry?

Hello. My LO is 5 months and im planning to start feeding him solid. However will it be okay it feed him on alternate days? Until he's 6 months old. Will he be hungry? Reason because my boy is quite chubby, 5months - 8.5kg, i dont want him to gain alot of weight now.
