My LO (4-day old) gets very sleepy after he went through his jaundice treatment in the hospital. He sleeps at feeding times. Is he feeling weak, by the treatment...or just generally very sleepy, at that age?

Treatment is good for him as it can lower the jaundice which is causing the sleepiness. U do have to note that u HAVE to wake the baby up to drink and not let baby sleep pass the feed time - more intake will help him flush the jaundice out too. Cut back on the ginger in ur confinement food too ya. Congrats on ur little bundle of joy :)

Thank u mummy. I felt relieved. Will try my utmost to b/f him at regular intervals.

Don't think it's the treatment. Basically babies with jaundice are excessively sleepy. When my baby had jaundice, to wake her up for the feeds I would remove all her clothes off and changed her nappy b4 every feed and tickle her feet. This seemed to disturb her enough to have a good feed =)

Thank u. Here I am worried, the treatment could be the cause of his fatigue....
