Is it true that when your child has recurring cough and colds he/she has "pilay"?

Well, in our household today we don't, but growing up with such superstitious lolas and parents, this used to be a fact for us. Now, I don't believe in it. I've read that hilot can even be more a dangerous thing instead of a remedy.
