Spotting or light bleeding is pretty common during the first trismeter. It could occur for various reasons such as intercourse, hormonal changes and examination done by gynae. It shouldn't cause any alarms. However.. if it's accompanied by cramps in the abdomen, please go to your gynae as soon as possible. It could be a sign of molar pregnancy, chemical pregnancy or etopic/tubal pregnancy. When I was about 5 weeks pregnant in year 2014, I had major cramps. I thought I could sleep it off but it only worsen. My parents called the ambulance when I couldn't tolerate it anymore. Long story short, my surgeon said if I had delayed calling the ambulance, I could have bled to death (lost 2.5l of blood internally).
